Old news worth re-visiting!!

2007 closes with new driver.

  • September 8-9, 2007

SLORA season finale and it was a great weekend at Waitts Lake. The weather was fantastic and there was some good racing. Team SS Racing's newest driver, George Doi III, hit the course as a rookie in the ol' "Gone Bananas" boat.

Rookie, George Doi III, flying in "Gone Bananas" during his first practice laps.

Mike put together his old boat and let George get his first taste of racing. After the first "spin" in practice and some trouble keeping the boat running at launch, he managed to get one full heat of racing in. The boat looked good and it was a matter of George getting comfortable with the ride. He did enough to be allowed let loose with the pack and put together 2 heats on Sunday. The final heat he was a little late on the start but came flying down the start/finish line and we could tell it was running well. He managed to drive 2 nice tight laps before fatigue set in and he drifted out a bit on the final lap's corners.

Russ was fighting power issues that have been dogging us for the last 2 races. The "green tractor" sounded about as bad as ever, but he was able to keep it on course and collect some points.

After the final heat, a few new drivers took some test laps in what has been a tradition for the final race. Robert Stone was set to take the Gone Bananas boat, but Mike made a change on the Green Boat and wanted to test it. Russ gave the go ahead and Robert went out for his first ride and gave a good few laps in the 178R, which sounded much better and running back where it should be.

It was a fabulous way to end the year all in all, though it sounds like we will try to bring at least 1 boat to run CBRA's final race in Moses Lake on Sunday, September 16.

Congratulations on a safe racing season and CYA all next year.

The weekend in Ione was another "interesting" weekend for Team SS Racing.

This was our first time to this site and it was another great setup for the fans. The course was tight in the corners, which makes it tough on the SE's again. Sabrina got back on the horse and took the "J" boat for a ride. By the 3rd heat it was hammer down and she was having a blast again.

Next race will be the SLORA season finale up in Valley, WA @ Winona Beach Resort, Waitts Lake on September 8-9.

The weekend in Clarkston could have been better... but then again, could have been a lot worse. The gremlins were out for Team SS Racing with 178R having a watering issue, a broken foot skag, loose coil wire and one stud from losing the backup foot. 97R ran all right for the most part Saturday, but only finished the final heat Sunday, after previously going dead on the course while running well due to electrical ignition wiring issues. Again, things could have been worse, but two boats came home intact along with the motors... the same can't always be said.

The new race site was nice with lots of new curious spectators checking out all the action. The course was narrow and that was hard on the SEH's, but made for some nice racing in the smaller classes. Congratulations to Mike Stone in 97R for the 3rd place finish even with the troubles on Sunday.

Next race will be August 25-26 with CBRA @ Ione City Park on the Pend Oreille River in Ione, WA.

CYA there!!

Congratulations to Russ Stone - 178R on his 1st place AOF Divisionals finish in FE-Hydro, in Oldtown, Idaho.

After losing an engine Saturday to a failed .50 cent hose clamp, the team headed back to Spokane, WA to build a replacement engine. It was on the boat and fired up Sunday morning @ 8 a.m. and ready to break in and race. It was close, but thanks to the MDS Motor Man (Mike Stone), Team SS Racing put 178R on top for divisionals, and 2nd overall for the weekend.

Welcome to the temporary home for Team SS Racing. We are in the process of moving our main website www.teamssracing.com to a new hosting server, so please look for that in the future.
